Enjoy our fresh Cromane oysters and mussels at home.

Cromane Oysters

The Wild Atlantic Way rolling in from the West and the Rivers Maine, Laune & Caragh within the Reeks District, all contribute to the salty taste and smooth texture of our oysters.

Cromane Mussels

Castlemaine Harbour holds the largest natural mussel bed in Ireland. Mussel cultivation has been a traditional activity in Castlemaine Harbour.

Recommended Storage

Upon receiving your order:

  1. Check the contents of the box, oysters and mussels should be closed and unbroken. However, shellfish can open slightly while in transit or stored in the fridge (this is normal). If any oyster has opened, simply tap the oyster or mussel firmly on a counter and it should close. If they close when tapped, it means the shellfish are fresh and fine to consume. Discard any that do not close when tapped, or has a broken or cracked shell.
  2. Store your oysters and mussels in the coolest part of the fridge, ideally between 4 – 8 degrees. Place your oysters flat side up. This way, if the oysters open slightly in the fridge the seawater will remain within their cupped shell.
  3. Important: Do not store oysters and mussels in sealed containers, on ice, in water or in the freezer.
