Meet The Team

Emmet Casey and Micheál Sugrue

Emmet and Micheál have been involved in the local aquaculture industry for the past 15 years. Both directors of the business, Emmet and Micheál created the brand Realt na Mara Shellfish Ltd in 2015.

Since then they have built a purification shellfish facility, certified and approved by the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority. The business is the culmination of generations of hard work within the local fishing industry, from which Micheál and Emmet learned their expertise from.

Sharon Sugrue

Sharon graduated from college in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Wildlife Biology.

She is an experienced Laboratory Analyst, skilled in Environmental Awareness, Marine Biology, Fisheries, and Management from her time working in the research industry. Sharon continuously works with the Marine Institute as a Scientist on board the national research vessels, the RV Celtic Explorer & RV Celtic Voyager.

Sharon’s current role as manager within the family business includes being in charge of purification, guaranteeing all shellfish is safe & ready for local & European markets.
